Picking Peripherals for a Process Line
Background
Certain production processes require peripheral stock line items in order to be undertaken.
For example, a job order may require that garments are printed, re-labelled with swing labels and individually machine bagged.
In this instance, the other processes that bag and swing label the garments require peripheral stock items - bags, and swing labels, so that they can occur.
When peripherals are needed for a process line, they are written up and allocated on the corresponding technical specification.
When an Other Process which requires the Peripherals is about to start, the allocated peripherals are picked and brought to the production area for usage in the process.
About this Task
This topic outlines how to update the system to reflect that peripherals have been picked for a process line..
Prerequisites
Ensure that you have opened the required Process line layout. Typically peripherals are needed for Heat Transfer and Other Processes
Procedure
- Identify the process line record that you wish to pick peripheral items on
Tip: the peripheral allocation status should be completed, and the peripheral picked status should be not started

- Click on the Pick button for the record identified in step 1)

- The Pick stock layout is shown TBC - this will likely change to be ipad layout **
The Pick Stock form shows for each peripheral product (SKU) required on the process
- The job number that you are picking peripheral for
- The physical location(s) it is stored in
- The quantity in each physical location
- The quantity required (To be Given), quantity allocated, and the quantity already picked

The following steps are outside the remit of the system but included here for completeness
- Using the information in the pick stock layout, visit the locations where the peripheral products are stored and pick the required quantities.
The quantity picked from each location needs to be recorded in the application.
- There are two methods by which you can record the quantity picked from a location
- You can click the Pick button beside a single product row for a location
This will cause a picking dialog box to display

In the Quantity field, enter the number of items that were picked from that location, and click OK
The following happens:-
- Picked Quantity is incremented with the Quantity entered in the dialog.
- Quantity for the Location is decremented by Quantity entered in the dialog.
- The Picked status will update as follows:-
- In Progress (Amber) if picked quantity < To be Given
- Completed (green) if picked quantity = To Be Given
- You can click the Pick All button beside a single product row for a location
This will pick the minimum of what ever is available in the location of the Amount needed to be picked, i.e.
-
Set "amount needed to be Picked" from calculating (To be Given minus Picked)
- Set "amount that can be picked from location" by calculating {min (Location balance, amount needed to be Picked)}
- Picked Quantity is incremented with the amount that can be picked from location.
- Quantity for the Location is decremented by amount that can be picked from location.
- The Picked status will update as follows:-
- In Progress (Amber) if picked quantity < To be Given
- Completed (green) if picked quantity = To Be Given
- Repeat step 4) until you have recorded all the peripheral picking you have done for the process line selected in step 2)
- Place the picked peripheral items in a picked stock location. (This is not a system process but recorded here for completeness)
- Record, the location where the picked items have been placed.
-
- Click the Picked Stock Location button at the top of the form

- In the Picked stock location pop-up form that is shown, click on the New Record icon

- This invokes the location picker dialog, where you need to record the location where you have placed the picked items.
- Click the drop-down on the end filter and select Peripherals Ready for Process
In the location records that are displayed. click the Select button besides the location where you placed the picked peripherals.
